Oregi stresses the leading environmental role of the Basque Country among the most advanced European regions
Environmental Conference of the Regions of Europe (ENCORE) in Bilbao The Basque Government's Minister for the Environment and Territorial Policy, Ana Oregi, stressed the environmental progress achieved by the Basque Country and its positioning among the most advanced regions according to the Environmental Performance Index (EPI), to representatives of twelve European regions. The representatives will be in Bilbao today and tomorrow to take part in the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Environmental Conference of the Regions of Europe – ENCORE.
Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu, the Basque Premier, attended the lunch with the Mexican President, Enrique Peña Nieto, with whom the Lehendakari was able to speak briefly during the Mexico Business Summit 2014. Apart from being on the President’s table, the Lehendakari was able to spend time with public figures including the Governors of Querétaro, Jalisco and Morelos, the Mexican Secretary for Foreign Affairs, José Antonio Meade, the former President of Poland, Lech Walesa, and Paulo Portas, the Deputy Prime Minister of Portugal.

Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu, the Basque Premier, and the Governor of the State of Querétaro (Mexico), José Eduardo Calzada, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to consolidate bilateral relations between the Basque Government and the Government of Querétaro.
Urkullu stresses that the new university is a milestone in the internationalisation of the Basque Country On the first day of his institutional trip to Mexico, the Lehendakari opened the Mondragón-UCO University in Querétaro, which is the result of the agreement between Mondragón Educación Internacional-MEI and the Contemporary University of Querétaro. The Chancellor of Mondragón Unibertsitatea, Iosu Zabala, and representatives of Basque companies based locally, were at the ceremony, along with students of the new campus and their families.
