The Basque Government promotes Basque fishery products in the twentieth edition of the European Seafood Fair

The Basque Government, through the Department of Environment, Planning, Agriculture and Fisheries, will attend the XX edition of the EUROPEAN SEAFOOD EXHIBITION, supporting the Basque companies from the fishing Industry and derivatives that will take part in the event. It will take place from 24 to 26 April at the Parc des Expositions, Exhibition Center of Brussels.

Within the 'Euskadi' Pavilion (located in Hall 7-1433) there will be companies that are specialized in fresh, frozen, processed and canned fish products. The Basque Government's involvement in this event is part of the Promotion Plan for the Basque Food Industry within several international markets.

Professional visitors will be able to attend several promotional activities such as LIVE SHOWCOOKING demonstrations of approximately 15 minutes each, which will take place in the stand on itself. These demonstrations will be based on the displayed products and the professional chefs will prepare different recipes; from easy to prepare 'pintxos' up to manufactured dishes with a common  feature, the raw material that our fish products offer.

The European Seafood is a professional event and one of the most important activities in its field, a compulsory meeting point where 'Euskadi' has been really active during the last ten years through the Basque Government's initiatives.

The application of the Strategic Plan for Fisheries and Processed Fish products has resulted into a meaningful revitalization of the field, where large investments are being produced for the improvement and innovation of the Processing Industry. The fishing industry has a relevant weight within the Basque Industry, due to the amount of natural resources of the Basque Coast and the high quality of its species, which are sold in the main markets throughout the world. The Basque extractive fleet is characterized by the use of traditional fishing gear, as well as for being respectful with the marine ecosystem and for contributing to the sustainability of the species.
