During the Internet Eguna conference, the Director for Open Government and Online Communication also stressed that "we need entrepreneurs to drive us to continue releasing public data"
The Basque Government's Minister for Industry, Innovation, Trade and Tourism, Bernabé Unda, this morning opened the event at the Barakaldo CEDEMI with the many activities that have been organised to mark World Internet Day. Unda stressed that "employability is the mixture of skills and attitudes", before going on to point out that "a third of the unemployed have never used Internet"
The morning session started at 9.00 with the official opening by Bernabé Unda. During his speech when talking about the positioning of the VII Internet Eguna regarding to searching for employment, he highlighted a proposal driven by his department: "Generating employment is one of the priorities of this department and therefore, we are committed to everything that helps to achieve that".
After Alfonso Alcántara had spoken, Nagore de los Ríos went on to explain "How Internet will help you to take part in Government", and Marc Garriga, the driving force behind the European Digital Agenda, explained the entrepreneurial possibilities offered by the network with his lecture "How to be an entrepreneur with public data".
After the lectures, the panel went on to analyse the opportunities offered by Internet in the area of employability. In the first one, Josu Robredo Arzuaga, a labour-socio technician at the Novia Salcedo Fundation, explained "How to design our strategy, a new job seeking concept, new competences, websites where we should be and the new technologies as allies".
Mario Allende Losada, a senior consultant at Michael Page, went over for the audience "Practical selection experiences". Roberto Uribeetxeberria, a lecturer from Mondragón University, closed the event with his lecture "Opportunities that ICTs offer when searching for employment".
