The Lehendakari committed to "creating innovative products to be internationally competitive"

This morning, Patxi López visited the new New Food Spray plant in Jundiz, which is noted for its original concept of producing food packaged in aerosols. The plant, which covers 4,500 square metres, is the first of its type in the whole of Europe. The Lehendakari wanted to take the opportunity to highlight Basque cuisine, as "it has managed to keep the best of the traditional ways, showcases local products and has innovated".

The new plant is highly automated. The solid and liquid raw materials are separated in the storage process, after which they are mixed before cooling and packaging. The packaging speed is 2,400 containers per hour.

The Basque Government's Minister for the Environment, Land Planning, Agriculture and Fisheries, Pilar Unzlau, and the Deputy Minister for Fisheries and Food Industries, Jon Azkue, accompanied the Lehendakari on the visit.

Andoni Luis Aduriz, from the Mugaritz restaurant, has been one of the driving forces behind the project. "This is all thanks to the Basque Government being as ready to embark on entrepreneurial projects as we were," he said as he thanked the authorities, before stressing that "our vocation is to grow and generate confidence".
