Bernabé Unda: "The efforts carried out in the name of energy efficiency within industry should be transferred to all other activities"
Whilst in New York, the Basque Minister has drawn attention to aid for consumers and innovative public procurement as key elements for improved efficiency
Today, in New York, Bernabé Unda, Basque Minister for Industry, Innovation, Trade and Tourism, has participated in a round table within the Climate Week focusing on discussion of smart networks and formulae to improve energy efficiency.
During a conference held in The New York Academy of Sciences, the minister explained that over the course of the next few years "the efforts carried out in the name of energy efficiency within industry should be transferred to all other sectors and activities in our country, particularly buildings and transport." The minister identified the commitment to smart networks as falling within this philosophy. This technology gives rise to technical and logistical challenges, wherein "the main obstacle to rapid deployment entails obtaining sufficient funds within deadlines to undertake the investment that will be required."
This conference marks the end of the minister's participation in Climate Week, which was primarily focused on the creation of the EV20 (Electric Vehicle 20), an exclusive group spearheading the development of the electric vehicle at global level. The forum was organised by The Climate Group, the United Nations and the City Hall of New York, amongst others.
