The Lehendakari opens up the process of citizen participation in tax reform
Above all, tax reform in the Basque Country seeks to fight against fraud and ensure that each person makes a contribution in accordance with their earnings.
On the 20th of July this year the Lehendakari, Patxi López, met with the Deputies General of Bizkaia, Araba and Gipuzkoa to present them with and discuss the document that brings together the main ideas for promoting tax reform in the Basque Country. At present, the Lehendakari is opening up a process of participation in which citizens can also contribute with their opinions, ideas and suggestions.
The document presented by the Lehendakari, Patxi López, is open in nature and is essentially designed to achieve the best possible tax system, i.e. one that is able to stimulate employment, implement social policies, eliminate institutional duplicity and ensure fairer, more equitable taxation.
The aims of tax reform in the Basque Country include ensuring that each citizen makes a contribution to the community wherever possible, in accordance with their earnings, and fighting against fraud to ensure that everyone who has to pay tax does so, without exception.
