The Lehendakari participates in the International Basque Language Day
To commemorate the International Basque Language Day, the Basque Government has released the video entitled "Hirumende. Hiruhiri. Euskara munduanzabalik", wherein three Basque language students, hailing from Paris, London and Berlin, read three Basque poems from different centuries:
The first is an anonymous poem dating back to the 17th century, entitled Goiziangoizikjaikinündüzün; the second, Donostiyakoziudadia, was penned by Pedro Mari Otaño and dates back to the 19th Century; and the third, Egiabatesateagatik, was written by Gabriel Aresti and dates back to the 20th Century.
The video concludes with the Lehendakari's reading of two verses of the well-known song Xalbadorrenheriotzean by Xabier Lete, to mark the first anniversary of the death of this Basque singer-songwriter and poet (Sunday the 4th of December).
