Rioja Alavesa & Txakoli Wineries at ProWein 2012
The Ministry of the Environment, Planning, Agriculture and Fisheries of the Basque Government backs the internationalisation of local wineries by supporting them in the promotion of their wines at leading international trade fairs, such as ProWein. ProWein offers a unique benchmarking opportunity for Basque wine producers, providing them with clear standards against which to measure their products and their business. The event is to be held in Dusseldorf from 04th to 06th March, in the Pavillion of Rioja Alavesa and Txakoli representing 20 wineries.
Germany is an outstanding market in the wine sector. Its high consumption and low production rates makes Germany the world’s leading importer of wine in volume and the second most important in value. Moreover, it is relevant to know that Germany is the main destination of the Spanish exportations, with a share of 17%. Despite the financial crisis and the stagnation of consumption, in Germany, the demand for the Premium and high quality wines has doubled in the last few years.
Participation in the ProWein Trade Fair forms part of the framework of action that the Ministry of the Environment, Planning, Agriculture and Fisheries of the Basque Government plans to carry out in order to promote Rioja Alavesa wine and Txakoli in different international markets.
