The III International Conference on Digital Citizenship will analyse the radical transformation due to the breakthrough of new technologies
This third conference will include new thematic areas and parallel events in order to provide an overview of the Information Society.
This year's III International Congress for Digital Citizenship will focus on analysing the radical transformation in all areas due to the breakthrough of the new technologies. This has forced society to banish former certainties and incorporate new concepts and ideas in sectors as broad as education, the company and competitiveness, governance, entrepreneurship and social relations.
Under the title Learning to Unlearn, this year's conference will organise parallel events that will help the participants to go further into certain aspects of the new network-society in which we are living, where citizens, companies, educational centres and, in general, society as a whole are coming to grips with new contexts and way of acting and relaxing.
The III International Conference on Digital Citizenship will be held at the Kursaal Conference Centre in San Sebastián and seeks to place the capital of Gipuzkoa as an international benchmark in the debate on the information technologies and their impact on society. Leading experts from around the world will describe their experiences and the conference will be an opportunity for the delegates to discuss, reflect, discover and use the opportunities arising from this situation.
The event has increased in profile thanks to its private-public partnership and it has the backing of the Basque Government, Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, the Deusto Foundation and the Institute for Democratic Governance.
This year, the International Conference on Digital Citizenship is divided into four key areas: Social Media, Company & Competitiveness, Education 2.0 and Governance & Citizenship. Social Media experts will analyse the latest trends in the personal and corporate use of social media and will tackle aspects such as the creation and energising of communities, their potential for citizen mobilisation or the new type of consumer, the "prosumer", that they have generated.
The Company & Competitiveness sessions will focus on establishing the opportunities for the new trends, business ICT tools and dynamics and how to use their capacities to increase sales figures and the prestige of the company in the eyes of the general public and competition. During the event, specialists will have the opportunity to put forward strategies that lead to a new way of approaching entrepreneurship through the opportunities offered by these new tools.
With regard to the field of education, the delegates will consider the impact of the emerging technologies on the learning processes and on the relationship between teaching staff and students, and on the current school and university structures. As far as Governance is concerned, the Open Governance concept will be discussed.
This implies adopting policies and tools for transparency, collaboration and participation of companies and citizens in the decisions of the Administration. The conference will likewise tackle emerging phenomena such as data journalism or collective funding platforms.
Along with the conference sessions, the III International Conference on Digital Citizenship has organised a series of parallel activities in order to consider key issues related to information technologies. The #CICD STARTUP COMPETITION will therefore be held and will be an opportunity for entrepreneurs to put their projects of a panel of investors, thus contributing to the promoting of the figure of the entrepreneur and facilitating contact between entrepreneurial projects and possible investors.
Another alternative is the EUSKADI OPEN DATA DAY, when a series of activities will be organised to showcase the fact that the Basque Country is at the forefront of the commitment to Open Government in Europe.
There will also be a programme of leisure and networking activities for the delegates, including COCKTAILS&JAZZ, a regular event at the conference, a new approach to innovation with CLOUD GASTRONOMY, and other activities to enjoy two productive days based on a phenomenon that is a new way of understanding our environment and which is constantly progressing.
