Minister Unda met with Sail managers, the main Indian steel producer

The Basque trade mission is on the home stretch of its trip to India and winding up its contacts with the different sectors on interest for Basque companies. Today, the emphasis has been on steel, with the Basque Government Minister for Industry, Bernabé Unda, taking over from the Lehendakari who has returned to the Basque Country. Unda, accompanied by the representatives of the Siderox cluster and two companies that are already set up in India, GH and Fagor Arraste, met with the Sail managers, the main steel producer. This company sells 13.8 million tons of steel each year and it plans to increase that figure to 20,000 next year and 40,000 in 2020. The aim of these contacts is to "facilitate" the arrival of future Basque companies to India and for them to find some of the doors on which they will have to knock open to them. The Minister lunched with the members of the Indian Planning Committee, which is overseeing certain public works during the coming 5 years. In the afternoon, the mission visited a German photovoltaic production plant that the Indian Minister of Energy yesterday told the Lehendakari that they should visit before returning to the Basque Country.
